When it comes to our skin we often find ourselves neglecting it. For as often as we see our own skin you would think that we would be taking better care of it. We see it day in and day out and yet it is often the last part of our health that we think of. It is one of the few organs those around us ever get to see and so we want to make sure we are keeping it as healthy looking as possible. Here are some very general tips on how to care for your skin. It is important to know though that this is only a starting point.

Wash your skin- We have all heard this before that washing our face and skin is vitally important. What we may not know is that how we wash also has an effect. When you wash use a cleanser that is made for your skin type. If you have sensitive skin get a cleanser that will be gentle. If you have oily skin make sure to get a cleanser that will remove enough of the oils from your face.

Also when washing your face gently massage your skin, DONT scrub. Scrubbing is harmful for your skin and can cause it to become irritated, leaving red rashes and puffy spots. Being cautious of how you wash your face will increase the effectiveness of washing your face

Be aware of the moisture level of your skin. Dont be afraid to apply lotion especially after you are done washing. Be cautious though because there are a variety of lotions and applying lotion that is meant for feet or legs may actually be harmful as it can lock in unnecessary oils and dirt. An unscented lotion made specifically for the face is the best option to use.

Finally your face needs to be clean but be careful not to over wash. Do no wash your face more the 2 times a day. Washing it more than twice will affect moisture levels and remove helpful oils from your face. Just like the rule for everything else, good things are to be used in moderation. Dont get caught with the line of thinking that if twice is good 4 times is better. In this instance that isnt true at all. Take good care of your skin, it may be the last part of health we think of but it is extremely important.
