Boat Aloe Aftersun
Boat Aloe Aftersun
How long does sunburn last and what can help make heal faster?
I went to sixflags yesterday and got sunburn on my chest, shoulders, arms, face and legs.
I DID wear sunscreen but because I have lupus my skin is super sensitive and I still got badly burned.
Right now I'm putting on Banana boat aloe aftersun lotion but it only feels like its helping for a few minutes.
I'm in pain and look super red
Anyway I can make it heal faster?
I have plans tomorrow with my friends and Wednesday I'm going to a concert.
Okay so me and a friend of mine fell asleep on a lake once. When I woke up, I had second degree burns on my back. I know they were second degree burns because for one, I couldnt move, and two, my gramma the nurse of 45 years said so. So my mom had to cut the shirt off my back to get it off but she wasnt much help in healing the pain. So...I called the one person who can ALWAYS help. Gramma!! I'll tell you what she did, but i dont know how strong of a person you are because the pain got worse before it got better. But i did as she said and when i woke up the next morning I couldnt feel a thing I PROMISE!!!
I don't know if you've tried putting ice on it. If you have Im sure you've discovered that it's worse pain then the original burn (especially when REMOVING the ice...)
So gramma gets 2 large ziplock bags and fills them with one single layer of ice.
I layed on my back and she placed them on my burn with a heavy herbal bag on top to weigh it down. I clenched the pillow with all my strength to fight the pain because I know she knows what shes doing...
Eventually the pain subsides (goes numb) and I fell asleep.
The next morning I woke up and couldnt feel a thing. Your skin is really hot before you put ice on it so using ice lowers the temperature of your skin to decrease the pain. Your burn will still be there but won't hurt anymore. Try to find someone who has a real aloe vera plant. Cut a piece of and mix the sticky filling and spread it on your back. It stinks but helps alot.
IT WILL HURT MORE THEN EVER FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES BUT IS SOOOO WORTH IT THE NEXT MORNING!!
P.S. I was only 12 when i had to go through this....I hope that helps to encourage you NOT to be a pansy, lol
WARNING: People may tell you to use Aloe Vera GEL...DO NOT do it!!! When I got this burn my mom put the aloe vera gel on me...OMG...it dried up and the only way to get it off was to get a towel wet and wipe it off...NOT A GOOD FEELING AT ALL!!! If your really burnt you know how bad that would hurt. So try REAL aloe vera!!

which is better aloe vera lotion?
banana boat aftersun aloe, ocean potion moisturizing aloe, or vaseline aloe fresh? vaseline seems to be the cheapest, but i want something that has a lot of aloe vera in it.
Your other contributors have suggested aloe vera from the plant to be best however may I add a word of caution - someone I know used aloe vera direct from the plant and had a skin reaction. Go to a local health food shop, (Holland and Barratt in the UK) and ask for their advice. There is usually a well trained member of staff available to give advice.
If you get an aloe vera plant (they grow very big and send out lots of trailers spreading across gardens) use a cream as a spreading medium so as to dilute the strength of the aloe direct from the plant.
Great secret spots you've probably never heard of and browning tips you need to know.Love sunbathing? Looking for that perfect golden tan? Majestic coastlines and breathtaking sceneries make Maui the best place to catch some sun on the planet. Maui offers a variety of welcoming venues that are nothing short of a sun lovers paradise. Each coast delivers something different. Whether your a fun loving show off, who craves crowds and action, or a sun worshiper that seeks a more remote setting, your sure to find a spot that is suits your style.
Lahaina Side
If you're looking for action, easy access, glistening white sand beaches, and endless sun, the Lahaina coast is sure to float your boat. Lahaina literally translates to "land of the relentless sun". Finding a beach to sun your buns couldn't be easier. Drive along the coast until you spot a beach you like, pull over and enjoy. If you are single, be sure to stroll Kaanapali and Airport Beach, you may meet the love of your life. Dont forget your Locals sandals. The sand can be especially hot during summer time!
Kehei Side
The Kehei coast offers the same as far as sun and accessibility. Makena Beach is easily found on the map. If you're up for an adventure head just beyond the main beach (to the left at the end of the beach, and over the little hill), a land of fun in the sun awaits. This beach isn't for everyone. If you want to toss of your suit and play some Frisbee or tan your "white parts" this clothing optional beach will be a blast. Sundays are like a mini festival with live drumming and dancing. The dolphins are known to cruise by from time to time.
Hana Side
The Hana side of the island is known for its heavier rainfall and lush landscape. Don't be fooled. There is still plenty of sun to go round. For a personal oasis away from the main crowds and attractions check out Red Sands beach. Free spirits can soar at this quiet little cove tucked away from it all at the edge of Hana Town. Just ask for directions at the Hasegawa General Store. Pick up some food along the drive at one of the many local stands. The local organic fruits are strong with "Mana", the sacred force of the universe. Red sands beach is as beautiful as it is rich in Hawaiian History. The protected pools are fed by pristine, cold-water springs. These brackish pools were sacred to the Hawaiian people. Hawaiian women would travel to this hidden sanctuary to give birth in the water. Clothing is optional on this beach. The hike to Red Sands isn't for everyone. It's steep and a little scary, but if you're good on your feet, an adventurer, it's nothing but a short jaunt with a sweet treat waiting at the end. Remember to haul out what you brought in and even though it may be tempting, leave the beautiful red sand where it is. It is considered taboo to take any with you.
Secret Tanning Spot
The real treasure waits just past Hana. Drive about 1/3 of a mile past mile marker 39 on the Pi'ilani Highway. There is going to be a white bridge with Alelele written on the side of it. Here you will notice several trails moving inland towards Alelele Falls. Technically, this area is also inside of Haleakala National Park, but most people spend their time at the overcrowded 'Ohe'o Gulch area and never visit this part of the park. Alelele Stream is easy to find, and it is about a 10-minute walk along the trail (and stream bed) to get to this waterfall. There is a pullout on the makai side of the road that leads to a landing where you can park the car. You may have to rock skip a bit and/or cross the stream, but keep heading towards the valley wall where the waterfall is. This waterfall is very beautiful, and hardly anybody knows it is here. As is typical with many falls on Maui, in the summertime it may not be flowing. If the weather has been especially dry, you can probably assume as much for the falls and just may want to skip this spot. It is traditional to leave a Pohaku (Hawaiian offering to the ancestors made by wrapping a lava rock in a Ti leaf). You will see them on the way in to the falls.
Browning Tips
In your search for endless sun and fun on Maui, don't forget to care for that beautifully golden skin. Here are 5 essential tips all the locals know.
1) Even the darkest of skin can burn so limit your time in the sun. Only use a tanning accelerant like Maui Babe Browning Lotion if you are an expierenced tanner and know your limits.
2) Be cautious when choosing your sunscreen, most brands either wash off or clog your pores (causing the dreaded tourist rash). Choose a breathable water-resistant brand.
3) Take a shade/dip in water break every 45 minutes or so. This gives your skin a chance to heal and will result in a healthier tan.
4) Always rinse off salt water as it dries the skin out, leading to wrinkly, leathery looking skin.
5) Rehydrating your skin after sun exposure is really the key. A light soothing coconut oil or moisturizing aloe vera treatment after a good tanning session will give you that Maui tan you've been dreaming about.
When it comes to tanning, the island of Maui is the place to be. Once again, Maui No Ka Oi' "Maui is the best".
